Welcome to our farm in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We both grew up on farms and in rural settings in the West. Once we had our own family we decided that as the population was changing in our area we would like a place where our children could do all the things we experienced when young. By doing this we would able to teach them all the values that come from living with and raising animals. Also wonderful life lessons and responsibilities like caring for nature and the environment around you. Life skills that all can be learned young. So we began looking for a place that we could raise our children. We were blessed to find our farm after much searching. As most older farms it was neglected all around, but we loved it and so the journey began!
We tried many different methods of managing the animals and land on our new farm, starting with what our knowledge was from childhood. As our animal load increased we were struggling with results and management. Farming practices from our youth which we were told were the only way to farm were not working. These methods did not bring us the results we wanted for our animals or land. Change is hard and sometimes painful to accept, but the knowledge gained is worth more. So with the massive amount of information available we searched for different methods. We came across many operations using rotational grazing and the proposed benefits. We decided to try it and so began our farming evolution. Today we are still learning as we go. We try to do what is best for our families health, the animals and the land around us. That is how we have come to this point in our journey of raising food for ourselves and others.
With raising our own livestock we know exactly how they lived beginning to end. We knew what it ate, where it ate and what care it had along the way. Knowing the whole food chain is our reason to have the healthiest food possible for our family. Our rotational practices have eliminated a lot of issues we had with outside suppliers and food quality. We have had food allergies and chemical allergies within our family and growing our own food was the quickest route to eliminate issues we found affecting our family. After sharing our new experiences with others, we found others seeking the same answers and solutions. We are blessed now to share our farming experience with others.
